Commercial Photography
Before we begin any shoot, we research our subject, your product and your service, thoroughly. Trying to understand both the tangible and intangible aspects of your endeavour helps us to better represent these in photographic form. We work closely with your marketing and creative directors to understand your goals: Your final vision is integral to every creative decision we make. If you are a smaller business, we often play the role of creative and artistic team. Angela has acquired a B.Comm, with a major in Marketing, and looks forward to applying her business knowledge in the world of commercial photography.
When photographing products for catalog or web display, we realize that colour accuracy is very important. Multiple products require consistency of angle and lighting; thus, we verify output by careful comparison and confirmation during the shoot. Lighting and technique are paramount to executing your idea, and we have the experience to carry it through.
Rates
(B1) Commercial
Pricing is based on an hourly rate, which includes a minimum of 2 high res printable images PER hour of service. More high res images are included if there are no people in the images, as product shots don’t normally require extensive editing. Also includes all viewer proofs on a disc: these are images, large enough to view on your computer, from which you can choose your favourites.
A la Carte
You may purchase additional high res, edited images, if needed.
Photo Editing
When people are featured in advertising, some retouching is required for a professional and polished result. We strive to maintain skin texture and typically erase “temporary” skin conditions such as blemishes, and only soften the looks of lines, scars, wrinkles, rather than completely erase these marks of character. In special cases, where applicable or by your request, a more heavy-handed approach can be used.
For products and set-ups, natural emphasis or exaggeration of certain colours and special effects can be applied. We will offer our suggestions in the planning stages of the shoot, and from there, your favourite images can be edited.
Makeup
For a polished and professional portrait, we recommend that both our male and female clients hire a professional makeup artist. Modern digital camera technology paired with pro lenses pick up even minute flaws not visible to the naked eye. Retouching can be expensive, thus the cost of a makeup artist is worth every penny, and can be more economical in the long run. We have a professionally trained makeup artist, who has been working with us for close to 10 years. She always creates a flawless canvas, yet very natural result. Our clients are always pleased with their decision to hire her.
